Preparing for opening – Glen Echo Cottages
Scott is already working hard preparing for opening this Spring.
He’s currently multi-tasking by building and putting the finish on the ladders for the new bunk beds for Trailside Cottage and cutting up firewood for the camp fire pit. We have several dead trees on the property and he’s out cutting some down so he can get the log splitter out and start stacking some firewood.

You really need to have quality equipment to run a resort effectively. Scott’s purchased a new wood chipper/shredder to get rid of all downed branches and he’s got a quality log splitter so he’s able to easily split the wood.
We were really hoping for an early Spring but that doesn’t appear to be the case this year:) They are actually calling for 20cms of snow this weekend. Let’s hope the weather people are wrong!
It’s year end for us so I’m getting everything together to take to the accountant.
I’ll be heading down to paint some of Baybreeze Cottage this coming week.
I’ve also been on a shopping spree and have purchased several new (to us) dining chairs and cast aluminum bases for tables. (Another project for Scott:) New pots/pans, mattress protectors and a new couch, loveseat and chair for Stay-A-While Cottage. While painting the cottage I decided it needed new furniture – we just picked up the set from Leons yesterday. We’ve got a little over a month to prepare for opening so we’ll be working full-time from now till we open.
So looking forward to doing some Walleye fishing on Lake Nipissing this Spring.
Hope to see you in 2018!
