Chris finally gets out ice fishing!
March 2, 2015
Tim and I moved the 2 day huts to a new location today so Chris and I decided to see how active they’ll be for our guests renting the cottage this weekend. We headed down around 4pm to do a couple of hours of ice fishing. We started in the shallow hut (~10 feet) which we have had great luck in that depth across the channel for two weeks but had no luck. We moved over to the deeper hut at around 4:30 which is in around 20 feet and they started biting right away. The bite was extremely soft and keep in mind Chris has never caught a fish while ice fishing ever. The night ended with Chris catching 4 Walleye and me only 1. It was fun to see her get excited about catching her first ice fishing Walleye. We missed more fish than we caught. I’m pretty happy with the bite under the new location but will likely move the shallow hut a little deeper tomorrow.
Here are a few pictures of what we caught. We were out from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
