Frequently Asked Questions?
We operate seasonally, opening on the 3rd Saturday in May and closing after Thanksgiving Monday (early October). This covers the prime spring, summer, and fall periods for fishing and family vacations. (Our ice fishing operations run in winter from January to mid-March, conditions permitting.)
Unfortunately, no. We are a pet-free resort. This policy helps us maintain cleanliness, prevent allergies for other guests, and ensure a quiet environment for everyone. We love animals, (we have two friendly boxers as part of our family) but we ask you to make alternate arrangements for your pets when visiting us.
All cottages come fully equipped with kitchen appliances (fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker with filters, etc.), cookware, dishes, cutlery, and a propane BBQ on the deck. We also provide bed linens and pillows for each cottage. Guests should bring: bath towels, beach towels, dish towels/cloths, and personal toiletries (soap, shampoo, etc.), as well as any specialty cooking items you might need. Don’t forget your food and beverages – the cottages are housekeeping units, meaning you cook your own meals. If you plan to fish, you may also want to bring a cooler for your catch (though we have a fish cleaning building and freezers if needed).
Yes! We offer a fleet of 21 rental boats – mainly 16’ Lund fishing boats with 25HP motors, all equipped with fishfinders and safety gear. We also have some upgraded boats (like bass boats) available. If you bring your own boat, we have a launch ramp on site and plenty of docking space (over 350′ of docks). A docking fee applies for private boats (see our rates page), and we provide electrical outlets on the dock if you need to charge trolling motor batteries. Our location is very boat-friendly with no shallow water worries at our docks.
Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out is by 9:00 AM. If you arrive earlier than 3 PM, you’re welcome to relax on the property, but your cottage may not be ready until 3. We stagger these times to ensure each cottage is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for incoming guests.
Glen Echo Cottages is proudly family-owned and operated. In 2025, the Vander Deen family (that’s us – Dave and Bethany and our and four children) took over the resort from long-time owners Scott and Christine. We are carrying on Glen Echo’s long-standing tradition of warm hospitality and excellent service. We live on-site and treat our guests like friends and family. As Canadian hosts, we take pride in our property and in sharing the beauty of Lake Nipissing with you. If you need anything during your stay, just ask – our family and staff are always around, ready to help and ensure you have a memorable vacation.
